Quick answer: Clan riding shoes combine several physical systems—ankle protection, reinforced toe and heel construction, waterproof lining, outsole structure and riding-specific details. No single material represents the performance of the complete shoe.
Ankle protection
Scout and Torque use D3O ankle protectors. Stealth is available with either D3O or a rigid moulded TPU ankle protector, depending on the selected Type. D3O remains flexible during normal movement and is engineered to manage impact energy.
Toe and heel structure
Scout and Torque use TPU reinforcement at the toe and heel. Stealth uses a thermoformed toe cap and heel counter. These structures are intended to protect key impact zones that ordinary sneakers leave less supported.
DryTech waterproof membrane
Scout, Torque and Stealth use a DryTech waterproof membrane to help resist rain and road spray. Water can still enter through the shoe opening, and waterproof footwear is not intended for submersion.

Riding-specific details
The current three-shoe range includes lateral sole protection, a gear-shift protector, reflector, lace holder, cushioned footbed and mesh lining. These details help distinguish purpose-built riding footwear from ordinary casual sneakers.
Certification: what is current?
- Scout: BIS certified to IS 15298 (Part 4):2024; not CE-certified.
- Torque: BIS certified; applicable EN 13634 laboratory tests passed; formal CE certification pending.
- Stealth: BIS certified and CE-certified to EN 13634:2017.
Certification applies to the tested product configuration and specified methods. It does not make protective footwear injury-proof.
