Quick answer

Clear answers before product claims

Good riding-footwear decisions start with three things: the construction of the shoe, the evidence behind its claims and the conditions in which it will be used. This hub keeps those answers in one place.

Start with the question you are trying to answer

Use these guides to understand motorcycle-footwear standards, laboratory testing and the practical difference between riding shoes and ordinary sneakers. Each guide separates verified facts from general advice and states the limits of the evidence.

Riding-shoe essentials

Choosing the right footwear

How Clan publishes technical information

  • Exact model status: certification and test claims are tied to the relevant model and configuration.
  • Plain-language explanations: technical results are translated without replacing the underlying standard or test method.
  • Visible limits: protective footwear reduces risk but cannot prevent every injury, and ankle-height shoes do not replace full-height boots for every type of riding.
  • Source-led updates: pages are revised when standards, certificates or product construction change.

Common questions

Are all motorcycle riding shoes CE-certified?

No. Certification applies to a specific product and tested configuration. Check the exact certification status shown for the model you are considering.

Does waterproof mean a riding shoe can be submerged?

No. A waterproof membrane is intended to resist rain and road spray below the opening. Water can enter over the collar, and submersion is not the intended use.

Can riding shoes prevent every foot or ankle injury?

No. Purpose-built construction can reduce particular risks, but no motorcycle footwear can prevent every injury.

Educational information only. Always verify the certification and specifications of the exact product and configuration you purchase.
